Description
Conference check-in begins at 3pm on Friday.

The Feminist Art History Conference is a forum for participants to hear new feminist research in art history, exchange ideas, strengthen existing networks of feminist scholars, and engage colleagues and students in continuing to redefine and expand the field.  It builds on the legacy of feminist art historians Norma Broude and Mary D. Garrard, who are now professors emerita at American University and part of the organizing committee.  The sessions include papers that cross a wide range of historical periods, geographic locales, and conceptual approaches. Participants include both American and international scholars and students.

The Conference is structured with four or five panels of papers in each of four sessions, one on Friday afternoon, three on Saturday, and this year, there will be a plenary session on Sunday morning. An opening reception on Friday evening precedes the keynote address by Dr. Lisa Gail Collins, professor of African American visual art and material culture, interdisciplinary African American history, feminist thought, and social and cultural movements in the United States at Vassar College. A luncheon ($10 fee) and a second networking reception will take place on Saturday.  The Sunday morning plenary session will be followed by a curator-led tour of an exhibition of women photographers at the American University Art Museum. All events this year will take place on the American University campus.

Registration is open on August 5.
Regular admission (through October 15) is $55 for scholars and the public and $20 for students with ID; lunch is $10 extra. Late registration (begins October 16) will be $75 for scholars and the public, and will remain $20 for students (lunch is $10 extra).
